The Cect i9 Phone and Opera Mini

Lately, I've been receiving a lot of emails about the opera mini browser and the Cect phones, particularly the i9.  In this article, I'll talk about some of the features of this very good and free browser, as well as how to download and setup it.

Why Opera Mini Works So Well With The i9: This phone comes with a accepted Wap browser and it's pretty decent, but opera is a free Java based browser that compresses all of the information so that the sites fit very well onto your phone's screen.  Generally, even for large sites, all of the information and wording fits nicely and is literally readable on the screen without having to scroll nearby and keep downloading and wasting money.  Also, if you're paying by the Kb or as part of a data plan, this mini browser saves you money as it condenses all down.  It's also very fast.  I find it to be much faster than the accepted browser.

Phone Case

Installing Opera Onto The i9: There are basically two ways to do this.  You can get online to the Java website via your Wap browser and enter in the code for the Cect factory ((wap.GetJar.com and then quick the download code 30827.)  I normally download via Usb though as this puts a copy onto my computer (in case it accidentally gets deleted) and it doesn't cost any money or data to do this.

For the Java installation, go to the get jar website.  Make sure that you have the device set to Cect A100 (the Cect default.) connect the phone to the computer via Usb.  Hit the mass warehouse icon on the phone.  Click on the jar file that you want to download.  Click save.  Next, find the drive that your phone is listed under.  (For me, this is K:/, but it may be something different in your case.)  Click Ok.

Then, unhook the phone from the Usb.  Go into the document icon on the phone.  Find the received file and then scroll down until you see the browser and click it.  Then click "install."

Now, you'll go into Java icon. You'll see the browser in the list of Java files.  Then click launch.  Opera should launch and you can start browsing.

Troubleshooting: Not Being Able To Get This To Work: Most often, when something goes wrong here, it's because the data, Wap or Java settings aren't correct.  You'll need to go in and set them up depending upon your carrier.  For example, if you use T Mobile, you'll need to input the T mobile Wap, port, and data settings.  Typically, you set the data first, then the Gprs, the Wap, and the Mms.  Finally, go into the Java settings and make sure that T mobile (or At&T, or which ever carrier that you are using) is reflected.  There are many resources that will give you the Internet settings for almost every applicable carrier that you can think of.  If for some conjecture you can't get online, I'd check to make sure the phone isn't set to the primary Chinese or factory settings.
